Sample idea for #2: Relax

The Energizer Breath

With just two basic movements, this breathing exercise will reinvigorate you by oxygenating your brain and body in a short time. If you spend a large part of your day seated at a desk or in front of a computer screen, the Energizer Breath is particularly beneficial to you because you stand up to do it.

Directions:

  • Stand up with your feet shoulder-width apart and hands lightly clenched, knuckle-to-knuckle at chest level.

  • While taking a full in-breath through your nose, begin stretching your hands and arms out to your sides as though you were pulling taffy or a large elastic band. At the same time, slightly bend your knees.

  • As you start your out-breath through your mouth, open your hands with your palms facing each other and slowly bring your palms together in front of your chest as though you were compressing a large ball. At the same time, gently straighten your knees so that you end up standing erect.

One in-breath and one out-breath constitutes a complete cycle. Begin with 10 cycles a day. When you're ready, increase the number of cycles to at least 15 a day.
